It's the Bug's Life

I've been meaning to do a little update on Bob's project, the past updates can be found here and here. The bug has been consuming his free time lately, and as of today the body of the car is being sandblasted so he can start the long painstaking task of body work.
Do you see anything special about this deck lid? Well I'm told that if you were a true bug enthusiast you would spot the "W" deck lid immediately. They quit making them in '57. To me I would have never picked up on this, but to Bob he HAD to have it. Of course to make this lid work on the Heinz '67 bug I little modifications would be necessary.
Looking closer you can see how the gap becomes increasingly bigger from the center outwards.
No worries though, that's why you can never have enough donor car parts to use. We're up to eight different cars right now, but who's counting!
A couple of cuts to the original body and you're ready to weld in the donor part.
After lots of thinking and planning on how he was going to make this happen
he pulled it off, gaps that line up perfectly.
It's all the little details that is eventually going to turn this project into one classy bug.

Another Milestone

This is what 81 looks like,
this is what 80 looks like,
this is what rolling a strike looks like,
this is what rolling a gutter ball looks like,
this is what not really knowing what you rolled looks like,
this is what bowling form is suppose to look like (maybe?),
this is what awkward bowling form looks like,
this is what enjoying being together looks like,
this is what manning the score desk looks like,
this is what the whole crew looks like.
A day of celebration with my family as my parents continue on their milestone birthdays. Mom claims it's only her 19th birthday, but we all know it's her 19th birthday celebrated for the last 61 years. I am so lucky to have both parents still so active at their young ages.
Here's hoping I look this good when I turn 80, oops I meant 19!
