Chopped

After doing a ton of online research and picking the brains of local body shop friends, who kept telling him he had picked one of the most difficult body styles to chop, Bob did what he does best and just went for it and made up his own game plan. Sure he followed some rough guidelines in the beginning, but as things changed in midstream he had to do what made sense to him.

The starting point,
a donor car,
and a donor roof.
No turning back now,
the remains of the cut out roof.
Now it's time to start piecing things back together. A little bit here
and a little bit there
and soon you'll have something that looks similar to an actual roof after being chopped 3 1/2".
Are you wondering what the poor donor car looks like at this point, wonder no more.
We're going to call this car the Heinz '67 Bug. So far this car has various parts from a '61, '64, '67, '68 and '74 bug. The downside to a Heinz Bug is that all the remnant parts left over are now residing in the barn. Should we start a pool as to how many left over bug parts we will accumulate before this project is over? Bob's enjoying his hobby and if you're ever looking for him I'm sure you'll be able to find him in the barn/shop doing this.
The reward is knowing that he can accomplish this chopped top on his own.

There will be plenty more hurdles for him before this project is complete, but I'm personally amazed at what he has accomplished so far.

  1. I can't believe he is that creative...it's like a quilt made from different car pieces. I can't wait to see the next steps...keep it up!
