60 Years

Last week my parents celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Mom didn't want a big celebration and more importantly she didn't want me to put an announcement in the newspaper. I'm sure it has something to do with people trying to figure out her age, so in case you were wondering she's holding strong at 49! I feel so fortunate that I have parents that have endured 60 years together. I'm sure there were plenty of ups and downs along the way, but to be that committed is truly an accomplishment to celebrate. I often times take for granted the solid family unit I was raised in and continue to enjoy today. Mom & Dad you can be proud of how you raised us.
We had a little family celebration for them at Maddox.
It's so fun to see how the family has grown. We are only missing 3 grandchildren in this picture and I think that's a pretty darn good turn out. Happy 60th Anniversary!

Chicks & Babes

It's Easter time and who can resist those cute little chicks in abundance at the local farming stores. Well I can, much to the disappointment of my other half, but when our friends mentioned they had new additions to their egg gathering hobby I knew I had to borrow a few.
Now that I have cute chicks what would make it even better is to add a cute babe (okay toddler) with them.

That was relatively painless. Note to self; adding baby animals to a toddler's shoot keeps them content.
Taking away baby animals and adding baby brother, well let's just say it's not what the two year old wanted!
After a little bribing with some fruit snacks (yes, I know, I've been taught I should never bribe a child for pictures) I managed a couple cute shots.

With Spring we get...

It may not feel like we're fully into Spring based on the weather, but with Spring we get these cute faces to lift our spirits!
Who could resist a photo shoot with these young babes tempting you.
Every spring we get a kick watching the new baby goats in a field behind our house.
Steady . . .
Oops!
Whew! Back on solid ground.
The poor calf was feeling a little neglected.
Let's not forget about my true loves, even if they aren't cute babes anymore.
They can still melt my heart!

A few random things

These shoes were delivered by my favorite brown truck on Friday. I'm usually not an impulsive shoe buyer, but when I saw a picture of these on the internet I knew I needed them. Tennis shoes with a little bit of heel for jeans, too cute! Can't wait for some spring type weather to wear them.
Reports in the news say they are worried there may be some flooding this year due to the unusually wet spring and the amount of snow left in the mountains for the spring runoff. The reporters may need to take a drive around to see that flooding is already happening. My favorite path on the parkway is under water on the right side of the rocks.
The Ogden River is already at it's banks just below Washington Blvd.
And the river in the canyon is raging. Please no springtime tubing folks! We're no where near spring runoff peak, lets cross our fingers our rivers can handle it.
My favorite find of the day. I would have never noticed this old house on the side of the road before I became interested in photography. I had to make a U-turn when I saw this. I've driven this main road in Eden countless times and have never noticed this cute old house.
After a day in the rain and snow taking pictures, what better way to enjoy a Saturday night than with freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and a glass of milk. Yummy!

The Boy Turns 21

It's official, Chase is 21 today! It's apparent that at a very early age Chase wanted to be like his dad.
He's always enjoyed being a part of anything his dad was working on.
He loved camping trips with his dad.
Then he grew into this young man ready for his first Junior Prom.
Always eager for his dad's opinion on almost any subject. This boy has now officially reached the age to grant him the title of young man, I guess that means I have to quit calling him a teenage boy! What does a 21 year old want to do for his birthday? He wants to go to his first bar with his father. Now I know there are a few of you cringing at the thought of that, but the way I look at it is there are a lot worse things a 21 year old could be doing tonight and he chose to enter this rite of passage with his dad. I think that's a compliment to Bob and shows how much this young man continues to look up to him. Happy Birthday Chase!

Could it be?

Could it be Spring just around the corner?
I've really struggled this year with the long winter that we have had, or is it simply I just don't enjoy the winter like I use to. Yesterday was the first spring like day we have had, so I skipped out of work a couple hours early to work in my flower beds. I know you are thinking who uses annual to go home and work, but sitting behind a desk 10 hours a day you'll do almost anything to enjoy some sunshine.
Awe, the signs of spring. It was so refreshing to see small things of new life like this.
I do have my work cut out for me with the masses of flower beds we have, but just for this weekend I'll enjoy the small amount of warm weather ahead.
Will someone please inform my Christmas Cactus that it should not be blooming this time of year. I'm thrilled with the fact this is the first time I have ever had a flowering plant re-bloom for me, but the thoughts of going back to winter at this point might push me a little to far!
