Fall Colors for Family Shoot

Thought I would share some more fall colors in the background of Shannon's family photo shoot.  Here are a few of my favorites.

And, just because I like to keep a little reality check in place, a session couldn't go by without a photo like this.

"Ghouls" Day Out

Gardner Village is the perfect place for a family "ghouls" day out and hopefully an annual tradition. The witches were out in fine form.

Payton is not really sure she wants to get any closer to this witch.
Madalyn and Shannon are definitely looking cute in these witch hats, but the price tag, not so cute!
Payton's first time at face painting.
She was so quiet and still the whole time.
The final product, a beautiful butterfly for a beautiful girl.
We were missing a few of our family "ghouls" but maybe next year they can come enjoy the day with us.

Fall Colors

Fall is in the air and it's my favorite time of year. I love the brisk mornings and nights with perfect temperatures during the day to enjoy the outdoors. Although Mother Nature decided to bring us an early cold snap this year, I have managed to get a few small glimpses of fall color.
Sardine Canyon shows a mix of two seasons colliding.
The Alpine Loop had a mix of greens and yellows. It's been a little difficult finding just the right mix of color this year. Although it was not in peak color it is still a drive I would recommend to everyone.
Here's my dad trying out his new camera on the fall scenery. I am a little curious to see how his pictures turned out since he doesn't exactly know how to operate the new digital cameras!
The best showing of color that day happened to have Mt. Timpanogos in the background.
My next attempt for some fall color was a hike in Big Cottonwood Canyon. The Sierra Trading Moose came along for the hike with my friend. "Moose" has been making different stops throughout the US and Tami signed up Utah as his next adventure stop.
At first we were greeted with ideal hiking conditions.
A little further up there was a little bit of snow and wet trails.
What a great mixture for a fall hike.
"Moose" decided he would like a snowball fight once we finally reached Dog Lake.
It was beautiful and a little chilly at our final destination. That is ice on the left side of the lake.
Time to start our 2.5 mile descent on the snow and ice covered trail.
That eventually turned to mud. And yes, I did get muddy enough that it put a stop to our plans of a Market Street salad for lunch!
But who really cares about the snow and mud when you get to enjoy the beautiful mountains that are so close by.

Green Acres

Green acres is the place for me.
Farm livin' is the life for me.
Land spreadin' out so far and wide.
Keep Manhattan, just give me that countryside.
Last weekend Bob had the opportunity to participate in a tractor ride with his tractor club (yes, I really did say tractor club, lol!). I will admit that it was kind of cool watching a line of old restored tractors make their way through the western part of the county. There may have been a few agitated drivers that were unlucky enough to be detained while the procession moved along at 15 mph on a highly traveled road, but for the most part they were greeted with hand waves and thumb ups on their route.
This Minneapolis Moline tractor took home First Place in a Voters Choice competition held at a restaurant prior to the ride. They are rare to find around here and the owner had it professionally restored. It is definitely a classic.
A well deserved Second Place went to Bob. That really means a lot after all the hard work he put into restoring this tractor on his own last summer. Congratulations!
