Raising of the Doors

What do you get when business is a little slow, back to back rainy days and a husband who always puts his imagination to work? Are you thinking? Well I'll just give you the answer since I'm sure no one in their right mind would guess a faux hayloft! Yes, you heard that right, a faux hayloft for the barn. Since the day he put the jackson fork up Bob has wanted hayloft doors. I haven't understood this dream of his. True, we live somewhat in the country, we have a building that looks like a barn, but the closest thing we have to a farm animal is the mule next door. Most people who imagine faux hayloft doors are going to think of a faux closed hayloft door mounted to the front of a barn. That would have been to simple. My husband always dreamed of hay coming out of the doors, you know, to look more authentic to us country folk. Here you have the "Raising of the Hayloft Doors."
Our neighbors were generous enough to help Bob.
Everyone had a task, from holding the door, to holding the rope out of the way, to running the winch on the 4 wheeler.
Of course, my job was to stand back and observe. Someone has to have the tough task of documenting such events!
Eventually the neighbors had to leave and I did have to lend a helping hand. That's why I skip from the step above to the next step of Bob securing his newly rebuilt jackson fork.
The outcome of Bob's projects are always amazing. Of course I give him the eyes rolling back in my head look while he is in the process and trying to describe it to me, but he always pulls it off to perfection. Now when people drive by and see the barn maybe we can fake a few out that it really is a barn instead of the ultimate man cave that it is!

  1. Awesome project...I like the way he thinks. By the way, I have a few projects around the house he could help me with if he's bored...like a chicken coop that is not quite finished.
